NHSH provides affordable, high-quality, year-round rental housing for residents of North Haven, Maine. As of early 2026, we rent out nine units, with two more under construction and opening up to tenants by the end of the year.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a NHSH rental unit

  • One member of the household must have lived on North Haven for a full year (a full academic year for employees of North Haven Community School or the Watermans Community Center pre-school program.)
  • Combined income for the household must not exceed 200% of Knox County Area Median Income (AMI). The income limit for units funded by MaineHousing is 120% of AMI.

Application Process

How can I apply for rental housing through NHSH?

NHSH is currently accepting applications for its rental waitlist. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and new applicants will be added to the waitlist in the order received, provided they meet all eligibility requirements.

What happens once I submit my application?

Once an application is submitted, NHSH will review it for eligibility. If approved, the applicant will be placed on the Master Rental Waitlist. When a unit becomes available, NHSH will contact the next eligible applicant on the list.

Can I submit a printed copy of the application form?

What is AMI?

MaineHousing publishes an annual report that lists the annual median household income for each county in Maine. NHSH uses this table to determine our rents and sale prices. The 2026 report is available here.
